 Raw Hair  vs. Virgin Hair

What is RAW HAIR?

  • Raw hair is 100% unprocessed Hair. This means that the hair is literally cut from the donor’s head and then sewn on to the weft.

  • No chemical processing.

  • No Steam Method used.

  • The cuticle are 100% aligned.

  • Does not contain synthetic hair fibers.

  • More expensive price point.

What is VIRGIN HAIR?

  • The virgin hair is 100% human hair.  The hair is literally cut from the donor’s head and then sewn on to the weft.

  • This hair is not the same as processed beauty supply store packaged hair.

  • Does not contain synthetic hair fibers.

  • The cuticles are 100% aligned.

  • Less expensive price point.

Three Ways Hair Bundles are Processed:

1a) High-End Hair:

Cut from donor directly. Chemically Unprocessed.

1b) Middle-End Hair:

Not cut from donor directly. Uses machine to align cuticles. Mild chemical processing.

1c) Low-End Hair:

Not cut from donor directly. Strong chemical processing. Sometimes silicon coated.

Four Types of Hair

  • Some factories refer to this hair as 6A, 7A hair but each factory's "grade" differ in quality.

  • Very inexpensive price point.

  • Great for ponytails styles or quick weaves.

Remy Hair

  • Middle-End Hair.

  • Not cut from donor directly.

  • Comes from a mix donors hairs on factory floor.

  • Uses machine to align cuticles.

  • 95% of the cuticles are aligned.

  • Hot oil treatment coats the strands for shiny hair.

  • This hair is not Virgin hair.

  • Some bundles are dyed black for nice healthy look.

  • Hair can be bleached to color #27.

  • Some factories refer to this hair as 8A Hair; but each factory's "grade" differ in quality.

  • Usually origins from China and India if the vendor is from China.

  • Hair can be bleached to 613.

  • This hair is the purest hair on the market.

  • 5+ life expectancy.

What is Graded Hair?

Graded hair is just a way to grade the quality of the hair bundles found in each hair type (non-remy, remy, virgin, raw).  The hair grade system is based on:

  • Thickness

  • Fullness

  • Single drawn bundle. (uses multiple lengths of hair strands to create hair bundle.)

  • Double drawn bundle. (uses one length of hair strands to create hair bundle.)

  • The hair has been washed and conditioned.

  • The hair has not wash and conditioned...

ETC

The higher the grade, the better the quality. 6A,7A,8A,9A,10A,11A,12A,Mink

Be Aware!!!

Each factory has it's own version of the grading system.

For example:

Joe Lee's 10A Virgin Hair could be much different from Sarah Ming's 10A Virgin Hair but yet they are both claiming 10A Virgin Hair.  There is no official scale for the hair industry to use at each factory.  Each factory grades their hair according to what they believe is correct.

This is why it's more important to pay attention to the three ways hair is processed instead of grades.
